Fire Department
The Pinckneyville
Volunteer Fire Department is located at 110 South Walnut Street, Pinckneyville,
IL 62274. We protect a six square mile area. Our I.S.O. rating is a 6,
and we are currently working on a class 5 rating.
We provide fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, auto extrication,
and other light rescue and hazardous material problems.
Equipment available: 1992 5-man fully equipped Tower's pumper, 1000 gpm pump with a 1000 gal booster; 1978 fully equipped Tower's pumper with a 1000 gpm pump and 750 gal booster tank; 1988 emergency rescue truck with a 16' walk-through body with extrication tools, air bags and various other types of equipment; a power unit that has a 10KVA permanent mounted generator in a 1970 Ford pickup with 8 Quartz lights mounted on hand raised pipes and smoke ejectors; 1965 Tower's Chevrolet pumper used as a reserve, 750gpm pump with a 750 booster tank.
Our Fire
Department presently consists of 25 firemen; one paid Chief, two Captains,
two Lieutenants, ; two Second Lieutenants, . We presently have 25 firemen
with a total of 234 years of experience. We have 6 firemen from rookie
to five years of service; 7 firemen with 5-10 years of service; 5 firemen
with 10-15 years of service; 4 firemen with 15-20 years of service; 2
firemen with 20-25 years of service and the Fire Chief with 34 years of
service.
